Hotel Tour

Hotel Tour was the most famous piece of content representing TOT1899.com at the time.

It was a visual novel-style experience in which readers followed Beatrice Rose Endicott and Manfred Strang as they investigated Hotel Hightower at night, advancing through a mixture of dialogue and still imagery. Among the site's many features, it left an especially strong impression.

This time, I created a remake of the Hotel Tour game. In this remake, the original Flash game has been rebuilt from scratch using modern web technologies, while the scenario itself has been preserved exactly as it was, down to 100%.
At the same time, all imagery has been newly prepared out of consideration for rights-related issues.
Also, some parts of the Hotel Hightower depicted in the original game differed from the actual attraction. Specifically, this included the structure of the garden and the Secret Warehouse, as well as photographs that do not exist in reality. Those differences have been revised to better respect the real attraction's setting.

Incidentally, the thoughts Beatrice and Strang never expressed within the game itself are recorded in Beatrice's Diary and Strang's Notebook, which were also part of the same site. Reading them alongside Hotel Tour gives the dialogue and the characters' attitudes a different texture.
